​MAKING AND USING NATURAL DYES
Learn the magic of creating dyes from nature and transferring that color to natural fibers.  We’ll discuss how to prepare your fabrics for long lasting color and how to use modifiers so that you can get a range of color from a single dye pot.   We'll also play with some fun resist methods for creating beautiful patterns in your finished product.

​BOTANICAL PRINTING
Learn to print beautiful, crisp, botanical prints on fabric.  After learning how to prepare our fabric for printing, we will walk the yards and gardens to learn about the botanicals around us and the qualities they will bring to our images. Then we’ll head back to the studio to prepare our bundles, using a variety of techniques that will affect the printing outcome and background colors.

FORAGED INKS
​Foraged inks are a wonderful way to gather color with the most basic tools and simplest processes.  We’ll begin with basic recipes and then explore how modifiers influence color, texture and shelf life.  The outcomes are potent - a wonderful way to enjoy the journey of natural pigments.  As a bonus, I’ll teach you how to make a reed pen to use with your inks and put them to the test!

​BOTANICAL LINE DRAWING
In this fun indoor/outdoor class, we will begin by collecting seasonal botanicals to use in our drawings.  Once back at the studio, participants will learn line, shape, pattern, design and layout for creating elegant botanical drawings.  As a fun twist, if time allows, we'll also explore how to use the same tools to make whimsical folksy botanical designs.

​MAKE YOUR OWN GIFT WRAP
Learn to create simple stamps out of linocut and use them to design beautiful holiday gift wrap.  Linocut is a printmaking technique that uses a sheet of linoleum to make a relief print.  It's a simple and beautiful process that is easy to learn and makes a reproducible image.
