MAKING AND USING NATURAL DYES Learn the foundational steps to creating and using natural dyes. We’ll cover how different botanicals, such as berries, nuts, bark and flowers, require different processes of extraction, how to prepare your fabrics for long lasting color, and how to use modifiers so that you can get a range of color from a single dye pot. $95/adult. 3 hrs. FOUNDATIONS OF BOTANICAL PRINTING This course lays a solid foundation to begin your botanical printing journey. You’ll receive detailed step by step instructions on how to prepare your fabric, prepare mordants and use heat to transfer the pigments from plant to fiber, making it possible to get distinct, crisp prints, and a beautiful range of colors. $120/adult. 4-5 hrs. BOTANICAL PRINTING ON PAPER In a process similar to printing on fabric, botanical prints can be transferred directly from leaves, stems and flowers onto paper. Learn a variety of methods of preparing and heating the paper that produce different character in your prints. $95/adult. 2.5 hrs. Call to schedule. |
FORAGED INKS Foraged inks are a wonderful way to gather color with the most basic tools and simplest processes. We’ll begin with basic recipes and then explore how modifiers influence color, texture and shelf life. The outcomes are potent - a wonderful way to enjoy the possibilites of natural pigments.
